Sacred Pathways is having great success!

Value added!  Anyone who has ever taken a business class knows the term “value added” — always do something special to keep your customers interested and happy.  We’ve been working on a “value added” facebook page for Sacred Pathways.  In addition to a YouTube tab and a robust Events tab, we recently added a dynamically driven Services tab.  Every time they add a new service to their website, it shows up on their facebook page as well:

This way their facebook visitors can get a host of information about their services and events while *staying* on facebook.  Once they are really interested, they also go over to their website (snap!) and join the e-news list.

Having this “value added” facebook page has been highly successful.  They’ve gone from 500 visitors to over 1100 in the past three weeks.

We’ve brought people to the page using targeted advertising on facebook, and kept them there by having a fun and useful page.

Facebook zooms right past Google….

“This may go down as the year that social networking trumped searching for America’s favorite online pastime.”

“We’re moving from a Google-centric Web to a people-centric Web” says social-media analyst Lou Kerner.  Its true folks.  The way people are getting their information on the web is changing rapidly.  People are relying more on recommendations from friends than on recommendations from Google.  25% of all page views are now happening on facebook.

Where do you spend your time online?

Here’s a great article about this gargantuan shift:

Facebook Page or Profile?

Tip of the day! do you have a business page on facebook to promote your business, or are you using your personal profile that requires you to “friend” people?

If not, create one by clicking on “ads and pages” on your left bar of your friend page. Then click “Create Page.” It’ll walk you through the steps from there.

There are several advantages, not the least of which is that everyone can see your business content whether they have “friended” you or not.   You get greater exposure this way.  When someone “likes” your business page, each of your posts pulls into their News Feed.   But even if someone has not “liked” your page, they can still go to your wall and read what you have posted.  This is good!

Facebook Privacy Settings

Privacy Settings: As a rule I’ll put business tips on here, but I also want to make sure that if you’re using facebook at all you have your privacy settings where you want them to be. The default/recommended settings are *not* about protecting *your* privacy. To set your privacy settings click on Account, and then Privacy Settings.  To set your privacy settings to the highest level, click on Friends Only and apply to all.

Or, click on Customize Settings, and then go through and manually determine the level of privacy you want for each element of your facebook profile.

The Queen is on facebook!

Not kidding. And its a fan page, just like you business have.

She’ll be using her fan page to keep people up to date on events and engagements, and most importantly she’ll be using it to control and correct the news about herself and the palace.

That’s what it’s all about for you too.  Control the “news” about yourself — be the one who posts it.  Use it to keep your followers up to date on what you’ve been up to.  And keep the relationships alive by responding to comments on your page.

Here’s the link to her facebook page.

Get a Custom Facebook URL

Do you still have the facebook link that they assigned you when you first got your facebook page?  Something long and unreadable, instead of nice and tidy like www.facebook.com/grayswebdesign?

Well, your suffering is about to come to an end.  Go here: http://www.facebook.com/username. Pick the page you would like to get a customized URL for (usually your business page, although you can even do this for your personal profile). You will then enter the username that you want (this username is going to become your URL (facebook address).  So for example, I chose grayswebdesign for my Gray’s Web Design page.  Check availability, and then finish setting it up!

Currently you’ll need at least 25 fans of your Facebook business page to get a vanity URL.

NOTE: you can’t change this once you’ve done it, so be sure to get the name you are sure you want. Try it, and tell me what you got!
